How to Keep Going When You Have No Support

keep-blog-STC-0720

That indescribable feeling you get of waking up each morning and feeling genuinely excited to work on your business, passion project, or side gig gets quickly extinguished when someone questions your decision to go against the norm and launch your own venture.

You can’t help but look forward to the work that you do every single day… so why can’t the people closest to you in your life feel the same way for you?

Moving forward without anyone cheering you on from the sidelines is hard. Follow these steps for how to keep going when you have no support.

Find Your Own Support

If you don’t have support in your immediate circle, go find a circle that will support you. Whether that’s attending in-person networking events or joining virtual communities such as Reddit, Facebook groups, masterminds, and more, it’s crucial that you have people who can answer your questions, let you vent to them, and celebrate your wins.

Doing a quick Google search will help you to find just the right place for you to join. And one of those is our free Facebook group, Student to CEO: Launching Your Entrepreneurial Journey!

Let the Doubt Fuel Your Fire

As cheesy as the phrase, “let your haters be your motivators” is, it seriously is true. Rather than doubt yourself and your capabilities, let the doubts that others have about your venture fuel your motivation.

Think about it… if someone is constantly telling you that you can’t or shouldn’t do something, doesn’t that make you want to do it even more? You’ll want to keep moving forward so that you can one day know that you proved that person wrong–and let me tell you, from experience, that’s one of the best feelings ever.

Have An End Goal in Sight

What is your ultimate goal with your business? Is it to take it full-time? Achieve financial freedom? Be able to work where you want and when you want? Outline the goals that you want to reach in the next six months, year, and five years and place them somewhere that you’ll see them daily.

When you know your “why” for doing something, it makes it that much easier for you to stay on the path because you know all of the efforts you’re putting in every single day will bring you to where you want to be. After you achieve that goal, you can look back and think to yourself, “I really did that.” And that’s a pretty powerful realization to have.

Working towards your goals when it seems like no one is by your side is hard, but it’s worth it when you crush every goal you’ve set for yourself. Know that you can always reach out to us at any time if there is any way we can support you!
